Heather drank on a regular basis with her buddies. One Tuesday after school she began reflecting on the amount of alcohol she drank and the careless and irresponsible drinking of her pals. As a consequence of this, she nicely asked all of her buddies the following question: "what do we really know about alcohol abuse, binge drinking, alcohol poisoning, and alcoholism? In other words, how much alcohol addiction and alcohol abuse information do we really know? For our young age, we obviously drink in a hazardous manner and I am starting to wonder if all of us are headed for a life filled with alcohol-related difficulties down the road.
I think we need to go on the web and discover all that is possible about alcoholism, alcohol poisoning, binge drinking, and alcohol abuse. And then if we have any nagging issues that we do not comprehend after we do our Internet research, we can take a hike to the student health center at the college and ask Nurse Wallen to explain things to us.
It should not come as a huge surprise that what Heather articulated would set off a heated discussion. For instance, her best friend since the second grade, Jaqueline, said that they are too young and too healthy to be worried about hazardous drinking. Another drinking friend named Alexander rationalized that since most junior high and high school students drink there is no logical reason why they should be any different. Another drinking buddy named Lily said that all she wants to do is to have fun drinking with her friends. And still another pal named Micheal in point of fact agreed with Heather primarily because his parents were both alcohol abusers and both of his parents had a history of alcohol related issues.
Heather explained to her pals that she got everything that they had said but that involving oneself in careless drinking at such a risky age truly cannot be very healthy or conducive toward establishing a meaningful life. When two or three of her buddies asked what kind of alcohol issues Heather was talking about, Heather mentioned the following: alcohol-related diseases such as heart disease, cirrhosis of the liver, and cancer and other alcohol-related problems like alcohol-related traffic accidents and fatalities, alcohol poisoning (which can be fatal in some instances), and alcoholism.
When Heather then stated that abusive and excessive drinking usually results in legal, relationship, school, and financial problems, some of her pals finally began to understand how far reaching and how destructive abusive and excessive drinking can be. To be sure some of her pals became more open and started to tell how these alcoholism and alcohol abuse effects had negatively affected some of their friends and their parents.
After listing some of the alcohol dependency and alcohol abuse problems that are related to abusive and unhealthy drinking, most of her pals seemed to like the idea about getting information on the Internet. They were, however, cautious about discussing their drinking behavior with staff at school. As Heather heard this she thought to herself, "at least they are somewhat excited about leaning more about their unhealthy and abusive drinking. This is a fantastic start."
